Up to Heaven


Up to Heaven I love music and the visual images music inspires. This painting was inspired by imagined music of a spiritual nature. The stairway through an atmosphere of sun and rays is like a stairway to Heaven. The face of Jesus in the rock reminds us who is Lord of the music. The pianist is surrounded and inhabited by God. One might imagine the large expanse of sky to be filled by activity of the spirit world. This painting is also meaningful to me in the sense that it is a portrait of my dream. Perhaps one day I will compose music evoking a deep experience with God. What would be more fitting to convey the depth and power of the spiritual theme than a grand piano as in this painting?
